Well the weather here in Cornwall has been far from it's analogy to the French Riviera. So to keep myself busy on the rainy days, my ingenious Simon suggested I pick up a paint brush. Not really having done so since I left school, I had no idea what to paint, what style to try, what I could actually manage, but I gave it a go.

For Mark:
It's a start I guess. Dad: I know they're very different from yours but I hope you like them! Maybe we could do a swap?

Just a quickie: On myself and Derry's walk this morning, I snapped this pic of Swanpool Beach, our local. You can see the typical horizon line with a navy ship perched.

Hello all and welcome to my blog. This is my first undertaking of anything like this, so bear with me 'til I get used to it all. Well I've settled in down here in Cornwall, if only the weather would settle too!! A lot has happened since I left Dublin, too much to catch up on so I'll start with some recent photos taken on a Sea Kayaking Cornwall course.

This is St Anthony's Light House near Falmouth. It's also more commonly known to children of the 80's as Fraggle Rock Light House. This is the area where the fraggle writer, Jim Henson lived and was inspired by. Well, so the local story goes! I'm paddling in between the lighthouse (where Travelling Matt and Sprocket had their adventures) and Fraggle rock (where Red, Gobo, Mokey and the Doozers lived). Can you sing along?

Further along the coast, we came across a pretty amazing cave. It had such a narrow entrance, I was surprised when the three guys and their 17 foot kayaks disappeared inside it. I'm in the red buoyancy at the back of the picture, where the cave takes a right angled turn into darkness. We must go back with head torches soon.

I was also at Simon's Dad's 60th birthday party. A great party up in Pig Trough in Shrewsbury. This photo was taken from the boat Louise bought Oz as his present.

I think I'll leave it at that for now, although I do have so many more photos to share. Well, let me know what you think. x R
